The main activities of the Palaeontological Society of China include carrying out domestic and international academic exchanges and scientific visits on paleontology and relative disciplines, editing and publishing books and magazines on paleontology and relative disciplines, advising and proposing on the national science policy-making for paleontology development, popularizing paleontology knowledge, providing S&T consultancy service and serving its members etc. On August 31st 1929, the Palaeontological Society of China was founded in Beijing by Prof. SUN Yunzhu etc. And after 1951, the secretariat was located in the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Palaeontological Society of China became a corporate member organization of the International Palaeontological Association in July 1979. |
