Time:2015-08-11
The 12th Symposium on Mesozoic Terrestrial Ecosystems (MTE-12) was held in Shenyang on August 16th – 20th.
More than 160 delegates from 18 countries attended the symposium. This
international symposium was sponsored and supported by the PSC, the
Earth Science Bureau of the National Natural Science Foundation of
China, the IGCP and the China Fossil Preservation Foundation,
co-organized by the Paleontological Museum of Liaoning (from Shenyang
Normal University), the NIGP, China University of Geosciences, Beijing
and Jilin University, and with particular help of the Liaoning Fossil
Administration.
Many renowned scientists congratulate its opening,
and expressed their praise on the great efforts that Chinese
researchers exerted on the Mesozoic terrestrial ecosystem, fossil birds,
early angiosperms and eutherian mammals. As the most authoritative
international congress, the MTE had been held successfully for 11 times.
This 12th congress received 150 abstracts, invited 4 experts
to give the special reports and contained 90 oral reports (including 18
keynote reports) and 37 posters. The Congress had 7 Sessions for the
participants to discuss in details on the diversity of the Mesozoic
terrestrial ecosystem, the geological and environmental change, the
evolution of the vertebrates and the origin of the birds, the Mesozoic
plants and their diversity, the climatic and environmental change and
the fossil footprints. IGCP608 Programme (the Cretaceous ecosystem in
Asia and Pacific Region) had its own panel symposium.
Moreover, the MTE Business Meeting decided that we would have the MTE-13 in Bonn, Germany, 2018.
