PSC held the meetings of the 12th Council and the 1st Board of Supervisors, and elected the leaders

The 12th National Congress of PSC and the 29th Academic Conference were successfully held in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province on September 17-19, 2018. On September 18, the 12^th Council and the 1^st Supervisory Board of PSC were voted.

In the 1^st meeting of the 12^th Council held in the evening of September 18, the Council members elected a Standing Council composed of 23 members according to the Change of the Term of Office election-scheme. The list of the Standing Council is as follows:

Bai Zhiqiang, Cai Huawei, Deng Tao, Feng Qinglai, Hu Dongyu, Hua Hong, Jiang Baoyu, Jin Xiaochi, Niu Zhijun, Sun Bainian, Sun Yuewu, Wang Xiangdong, Wang Xunlian, Wang Yongdong, Wang Yuan, Wang Yuanqing, Wu Yasheng, Xu Xing, Yao Jianxin, Yuan Xunlai, Zhan Renbin, Zheng Zhuo, Zhu Huaicheng.

Subsequently, the 1^st meeting of the Standing Council was held to elect the leaders of the 12^th Council of PSC. According to the Change of the Term of Office election-scheme formulated by the 6^th Standing Council in their 11^th meeting and approved by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the new Standing Council voted to establish the new leaders. The list is as follows:

President: Zhan Renbin (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences)

Vice Presidents:

Deng Tao (Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences)

Wang Yongdong (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences)

Yao Jianxin (Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences)

Bai Zhiqiang (Beijing University)

Hua Hong (Northwest University)

Secretary-General who was nominated by the President was approved in the Standing Council vote:

Wang Yongdong (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences)

Note: According to the regulations of the CAST, one single organization can have no more than 2 national society leaders. In order to facilitate the work of the president’ organization, the Secretary-General should be chosen from the Vice Presidents.

Subsequently, to meet the needs of the Secretariat, the meeting passed the nomination of the deputy Secretary-generals, which were named by the Secretary-General. At the first meeting of the 1^st Board of Supervisors, all nine present members of the Board vote for the Chief Supervisor and deputy Chief Supervisor. The list is as follows:

Supervisor: Yang Qun (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences);

Deputy Supervisor: Sun Ge (Shenyang Normal University).

Note: according to the revised regulations of the CAST, members of the council, secretariat and office members of the society shall not serve as members of the Board of Supervisors, so none of the above members is listed here.

Zhan Renbin, newly-elected as chairman, presented the 12^th Standing Council members with certificate, respectively. He thanked all the members of the 11^th council, expressed his gratitude for their trust and support, and proposed the objectives and tasks for the future work of the Council on behalf of the 12^th Council.

According to the decisiona of the 12^th Standing Council, Yang Qun, President of the 11^th Council, Sun Ge and Tong Jinnan, Vice Presidents of 11^th Council, Ji Qiang, former Vice President of the Council, and Shen Shuzhong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, were intitled as the Honorary Council Members of PSC. President Zhan Renbin issued the certificates to them.

Yang Qun and Sun Ge were elected as Chief Supervisor and Deputy Chief Supervisor of the first Board of Supervisors
