The Chinese Society of Invertebrate Palaeontology was established in Guiyang, December 12, 2016

The Chinese Society of Invertebrate Palaeontology, a new branch of the PSC, has been established in Guiyang on December 18th, 2016. The PSC Secretary-General WANG Yongdong hosted the establishment meeting. Moreover, He declared the standard preparation progress of the new society and the procedure of candidate nomination. After the PSC Vice-President TONG Jinnan read out the document of A Decision for the PSC to Establish the Chineses Society of Invertebrate Palaeontology, the PSC Council Members elected the First Council of the new society, strictly according to the Rules of the PSC and the Regulations of the PSC Branches. The First Council of the new society contains 21 members. After the election, the PSC President YANG Qun addressed in the meeting and sent his congratulations to the newly found society. WANG Xiangdong, the PSC Executive Council Member and the Director of the Council of Palaeoecology, and ZHU Huaicheng, the PSC Executive Council Member, the President of the Palynological Society of China and the Secretary of CCP for PSC, both made speeches in the meeting and expressed their congratulations.


Later, the 1st Session of the 1st Council of the new society was held. During the session, the council members elected the leading group of the society, in which ZHAN Renbin was elected as the President, He Weihong, JIN Xiaochi, REN Dong and SUN Yuanlin as the Vice-Presidents, and CAI Huawei as the Secretary-General. The establishment of the Chinese Society of Invertebrate Palaeontology could be a milestone in the history of the PSC. It will benefit the cultivation of the talent training, promote the popular science propagation and further the research on the Invertebrate Palaeontology. The newly found society will also be of great significance for the Chinese invertebrate palaeontology to maintain its leading status in the world and continue to make new progress.


The PSC Members who attending the 4th Session of the 11th PSC Council were present in the establishing meeting.
