The 7th National Congress of the Fossil Amateurs was held in Nanjing

The 7th National Congress of the Fossil Amateurs was held in Nanjing Museum of Palaeontology on August 20th – 21st. About 200 fossil amateurs from more than 20 provinces throughout the country met in Nanjing, discussing the “Fossil Culture and Scientific Mind”, which was also the theme of the congress.
In the opening ceremony, the NIGP Vice-President ZHAN Renbin, the Vice-Director of the National Palaeontology and Fossil Panel WANG Lixia, the Secretary-General of the PSC WANG Yongdong and the Vice-President of the View Stone Association of China LU Jianhua gave the speeches. HUANG Xinyan, the Vice-President of the China Fossil Preservation Foundation and the other guests attended the opening ceremony. The Bureau of Science Communication, CAS sent the congratulations to the opening of the congress.
Dr. YUAN Xunlai, the Director of the LPS in NIGP and other experts were invited to make the reports. More than ten fossil amateurs reported their discoveries on fossil collection, geological tours on popular science, fossil restoration and art and children fossil amateurs. The congress also led a fieldwork to Baohua County in Jurong. And some of the participants visited Tangshan, where Homo erectus nankinensis were discovered. These tours and activities were interesting and praised by the participants.
