15th Annual Meeting of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology of China held in Daqing, Heilongjiang

The 15^th Annual Meeting of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology of China (SVPC) was held in Daqing, Heilongjiang. The meeting was co-hosted by the SVPC and the Daqing government and co-organized by the Daqing Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication and the Daqing Museum. More than 260 delegates from more than 90 organizations throughout the country participated in the meeting, coming from the scientific institutions, the colleges and the institutional organizations of cultural heritage and museum. Some new academic achievements and future stragedy for the paleontology development were discussed, which shall be an impetus for the internationalization of the vertebrate paleontology, the paleoanthropology and the Paleolithic archeology in our country.

The SVPC Vice-President JIN Ming hosted the opening ceremony. The SVPC granted the Daqing Museum of the honor to be “the pop-scientific and educational base for the SVPC”, and awarded the “Chung-Chien YOUNG’s Prizes for Science Communicators” to 3 people (OUYANG Hui of the Chongqing Natural Museum, LI Chun of the IVPP and ZHANG Wanlian of Chaoyang Daily) for their significant contributions to the museums, the pop-science and social education.

The meeting comprised more than 70 academic reports and published a special issue containing 30 papers.
