The 2016 Annual Meeting of the MSC and the CFA was Held Successfully

The 10th Membership Assembly and the 16th Annual Academic Meeting of the Micropalaeontological Society of China (MSC) along with the 17th Academic Meeting of the Committee on Fossil Algae (CFA) was successfully held in Hezheng, Gansu Province, on June 24th -27th , 2016. The joint meeting was organized by the MSC and the CFA,
co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Continental Dynamics from
Northwest University, Hezheng Paleozoological Museum and the
Palaeontological Society of Jiangsu, and sponsored by the China
Association of Science and Technology (CAST). The meeting was hosted by
Professor HONG from Northwest University, who is also the Chief Director
of the CFA.
There were 88 participants from 11 universities,
11 institutions and 8 manufacturing enterprises in home and abroad. The
meeting committee received 52 abstracts and allowed 26 delegates to
orally report their recent studies on micropaleontology, which aroused
warm debates and got huge praises. The themes of these studies were of a
large spectrum of the taxonomy, the biostratigraphy, the genealogical
evolution and the application of the micropaleontology on the structural
geology, paleoenvironment and the searching of the fossil fuels. The
researchers left their footprints from the harsh Tibet to the freezing
North Pole, studying the fossils and stratigraphy from the Precambrian
to the Present.
After the meeting, a new Council of the MSC was
elected. It contains 21 members, in which Prof. LUO Hui was elected as
the president, Prof. SU Xin and Prof. XIANG Rong as the vice-presidents,
and Vice-Prof. TANG Peng as the general secretary.
